Course Description

Participants learn to guide movement based on a closed kinematic chain and integrated deep muscle activation during seated, standing, and support exercises. Introduction to working with spring resistance allows for learning both counteracting and following the force, which is the essence of neuromuscular control technique in Sinya Pilates. The program includes a basic Chair repertoire, enabling the conduct of both individual and group training sessions.

What You Will Learn

Safe body positioning on the Wunda Chair. You will learn the function of springs and the impact of their settings on core work. You will learn to work in seated, supine, prone, standing, and support positions. You will develop awareness of vertical movement – against gravity. You will learn to strengthen rotational control, extension, and balance. You will learn the principles of creating a Chair lesson plan at the fundamental and progressive levels. Lesson structure: introduction (core activation), main sequence (exercises in various positions), conclusion (mobilization, elongation). Exercise progression and regression: level analysis, spring setting modifications. Cueing and corrective touch: tools for communicating with the participant’s body.
Integration with other modules: preparation for working with Ladder Barrel and Spine Corrector.

Who Is This For?

For Pilates instructors who have completed MAT and Reformer Root levels and wish to learn precise lesson delivery in a vertical and dynamic environment, with a strong emphasis on body axis control and balance.

Course scope and selected movement repertoire.

Fundamental Beginner Level:

  • Seated Triceps Press – isometry, shoulder mobilization, and scapular stabilization
  • Mermaid on Chair – lateral elongation, thoracic spine mobilization
  • Single Leg Press – lower limb activation, unilateral engagement awareness
  • Hamstring Stretch (Standing) – posterior chain mobilization, hip stabilization
  • Standing Pike (Round Back) – core activation, lumbar spine traction
  • Mountain Climber (Support Position) – support position, girdle strengthening

Progressive Level:

  • Triceps Dips on Chair – arm strength, scapular stabilization, shoulder control
  • Pull Up (Round Back) – segmental pull-up, abdominal and back activation
  • Chest Lift – extension from the center, torso elongation
  • Side Stretch on Chair – spiral work, elongation + lateral activation
  • Reverse Lunge with Push – lower limb stabilization training, hip mobility
  • Swan on Chair – chest opening, posterior chain activation
  • Hamstring Curl in Prone – isolated hamstring and gluteal work

Advanced Level:

  • Going Up Front – vertical ascent, full lower limb and core activation
  • Going Up Side – lateral stabilization, working with center of gravity shifts
  • Twist and Press – resisted rotation, breath and twist integration
  • Mountain Climber Advanced – dynamic support version, axis control
  • Pike Press – strength and balance challenge using core and girdle
  • Step Down with Rotation – controlled eccentric work + rotation
  • Pull Up with Leg Variation – advanced pull-up version: strength, control, balance
